Karl Joachim Brende

I am an Economic Historian and currently Visiting Research Fellow at BI Norwegian Business School. 

I earned my Master’s degree in Economic History from the University of Oslo, where I was supervised by Professor Einar Lie.

• Banking and financial history through informal credit and non-intermediated financial markets.

• The evolution of traditional financial instruments (bills of exchange, mortgages, and bonds).

• The role of social relationships and networks in sustaining credit markets.
